Dan and Margaret Maddox Charitable Fund Awards $2,318,718 in Grant Funds in Middle Tennessee
NASHVILLE – Oct. 25, 2011 – The Dan and Margaret Maddox Charitable Fund today announced it awarded $2,318,718 in grants to 65 Middle Tennessee nonprofit organizations. The focus of the grants is to make a positive impact in the lives of young people and to promote the conservation of wildlife resources.
“Dan and Margaret Maddox have left a legacy in Middle Tennessee. Consistent with their passions, we have made grants to programs focused on education, services for young people with economic need and wildlife habitat conservation for the enjoyment of hunting and fishing,” said Robert Brandt, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Today’s awards bring the total grants awarded to nonprofit organizations serving those areas to more than $6.5 million since 2008.
According to Tom Curtis, Chairman of the Grant Committee, the Charitable Fund received over 100 applications for funding. “The committee received many strong proposals this year. We worked to be faithful to Dan and Margaret’s original charitable intent. Their generosity makes these gifts possible at a time when nonprofit organizations need them most,” said Curtis.

About the Dan and Margaret Maddox Charitable Fund
Dan and Margaret Maddox were key community leaders until their tragic deaths in a boating accident in 1998. The foundation, established in 1968, facilitated their philanthropic vision. In 2008, the court appointed a diverse Board of Directors committed to fulfilling the charitable dreams of Dan and Margaret Maddox.
